What We Look for Around Your Roofline
Tell us where the gutter leaks or overflows, or which boards look loose or damaged. That helps us understand whether the problem is with the guttering itself or the roof edge around it.
1. We Look at Where Water Is Escaping
Water stains show where water is escaping, but the cause may be further along the gutter. We consider the slope, joints, outlets and downpipes when looking into the problem.
2. We Check the Fascia and Roof Edge
We check the fascia and roof edge behind a loose gutter. They need to be sound enough to hold the guttering securely.
3. We Consider Soffits and Ventilation
Soffits can form part of the roof's ventilation. We take the existing eaves construction into account when discussing replacement, as well as how the new boards will look.
4. We Explain the Work Needed

The fascia is the board along the roof edge that usually supports the gutter. The soffit sits underneath the overhang. One may need work while the other is sound, so we'll explain the condition of each and what's included in your quote.
Do You Replace uPVC Roofline?
Yes, we work with uPVC fascias and soffits, as well as repairing and replacing guttering. We'll discuss the materials, preparation and finish with you before agreeing the work.
Can You Repair a Leaking Gutter without Replacing Everything?
A local repair may be enough if the rest of the guttering is in good condition. Tell us where it's leaking or overflowing and whether it's been repaired before. We'll explain whether a repair or wider replacement makes sense.
Can New Boards Be Fitted over Existing Ones?
We'll need to check the existing boards and their supports first. Your quote will explain whether we're removing, retaining or covering them, and why. New boards on the outside don't necessarily mean everything behind them has been replaced.
Will the Work Affect Roof Ventilation?
It can affect ventilation at the eaves, so we consider the existing arrangement when planning the work. If you've noticed moisture in the loft, tell us. New fascia or soffit boards alone may not resolve the cause.
Can Guttering Be Included with a Roof Replacement?
Yes, we can discuss guttering and roofline work alongside a roof replacement. We'll list the boards, gutters, outlets and downpipes included in the quote so you know exactly what's covered.
Do You Work on Garages and Extensions?
Yes, we work on garages and extensions too. Tell us which roof edge needs attention and whether anything below it, such as a conservatory or lower roof, could affect access.
What Photos Should I Send?
Send your postcode and a view of the affected roof edge from ground level, plus any closer photos you already have. Tell us where the damage is or when the gutter overflows. Please don't climb up to take pictures.
