Planning Your Extension Roof
The earlier we understand the roof design and materials, the easier it is to plan the roofing work. For an existing extension, tell us what's leaking or wearing out so we can work from the condition of the roof you have.
1. Share Drawings or the Existing Layout
If you're building an extension, send over any drawings and roof dimensions you have. For an existing roof, a few photos taken safely and a description of the problem are a useful starting point.
2. We Check the Connection to the House
Water can get in where the extension meets the house. We pay attention to the flashing, valleys and changes in roof level when discussing the work needed.
3. We Consider Drainage and Roof Windows
We consider gutters, outlets and roof windows together so they fit the roof and water can drain properly around them.
4. Agree What's Included
We'll explain which roof covering, flashing, windows and gutters are included in our quote. We'll also make clear where other building work or internal finishing needs to be arranged.

Yes. We work on new extension roofs, replacements and repairs. Tell us what stage your project has reached and share any drawings or photos you have so we can discuss the roofing work.
Can an Extension Have a Pitched or Flat Roof?
Either may be possible, depending on the design and the house. We work with slate, tiles, EPDM, GRP and felt, and can discuss which options suit the roof you're planning.
Can You Fix a Leak Where the Extension Meets the House?
Yes, we can look into leaks at that junction. The flashing, raised edges and surrounding materials may need attention. Tell us where the water appears, when it happens and what repairs have already been tried.
Can Rooflights Be Added to an Extension Roof?
They can be added where the roof is suitable. Let us know before we quote so we can discuss the opening, window, flashing and any internal finishing that needs arranging.
Is Insulation Included in the Roofing Work?
Insulation is included only where we've agreed it as part of the work. Tell us how the room will be used, and we'll explain which roof layers our quote covers and any design details that need confirming.
Can You Work with My Builder?
Let us know who your builder is and how far the project has progressed. We can then discuss the preparation, timing and roofing work with you, and confirm the arrangements before work starts.
Will the Quote Include the Internal Ceiling?
It isn't automatically included. We'll make clear whether our quote includes any internal making good, and what lining, decorating or electrical work needs to be arranged separately.
What Should I Send for an Extension-Roof Quote?
Send your postcode, any drawings, the stage of the build and the roof type you have in mind. For an existing extension, include safe photos and details of any leaks. It also helps to know about access, roof windows and your intended timescale.
